Jays win Brampton Minor Peewee AAA tournament

The Aurora King Jays 12U Minor Peewee AAA rep team had a great June 23-25 weekend to win the Brampton Minor Peewee AAA tournament! The Jays were in a tough pool with Scarborough, Waterloo and host Brampton. The Friday night round robin game was a tight one, with the score tied 2-2 going into the 7th inning. That Jays took the lead in the top half, but couldn't hold on as Scarborough secured a walk off win in the bottom half. This put the pressure on the Jays to win 2 round robin games on Saturday to make the Sunday playoffs. The team responded with a 9-5 win over Brampton followed by a big 11-1 win over Waterloo to finish the round robin at 2-1 and securing a playoff spot.

This setup a match-up with league rival Richmond Hill in the semi-final on Sunday morning. The Jays bats stayed hot as they clubbed their way to a 17-6 win to setup a rematch with undefeated Scarborough in the final. The Jays played a great game with strong pitching, defence and hitting to jump to an early lead en route to a 9-2 win for the tournament championship! Congratulations to Ryley, Fionn, Nicho, Nate W, Finn, Luke, Nate W, Tyler, Owen, Will and with coaches Jordan, Greg, Ryan and Dave.

Scarborough are one of the top AAA teams in the province and we are quickly building a great rivalry with them, as we have played them 5 times on the season already. This tournament win caps off a great first half of the season for the Jays, having qualified for the playoffs in the previous 2 AAA tournaments and holding a 6-1-1 record so far in the YSBA/TBA/EOBA interlock AAA regular season.
